The most successful coach in the history of Club Atlético Boca Juniors, Carlos Bianchi, has completely ruled out the possibility of returning to the team, stating: "I would have to be in a stadium and I want to enjoy myself." This statement definitively closed the door on his return, despite the speculation generated by the club's president, Juan Román Riquelme, who had mentioned the possibility during the week.
The Boca Football Council continues to search for a replacement for Fernando Gago, while the current interim head coach, Mariano Herrón, prepares for the upcoming match against Lanús in the Apertura Tournament. It is rumored that former defender Gabriel Milito is the leading candidate for the position, although Riquelme has not yet contacted any possible substitutes.
However, the possibility of Milito joining the team could be complicated due to his interest in running for president of Independiente, the club where he began his career. If he were to return to Boca, it is expected that he would take on certain responsibilities.
On the other hand, Carlos Bianchi, in a television interview, denied the rumors linking him to a return to the team's coaching staff after 11 years of inactivity. The former coach stated that he is satisfied with his current situation and wishes to enjoy his present.
"I want to enjoy myself," Bianchi expressed, clarifying that he has no intentions of returning to the football scene at this time. Although his name came up as a possible replacement for Gago ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup, the "Virrey" seemed distant from this possibility, making it clear that his current focus is different.
These statements close the door on an imminent return of two historical figures to Club Atlético Boca Juniors, leaving the question of who will be chosen to lead the team in the near future open.
